How to Make Whole Grain Bread

Get the Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup of honey
  • ⅓ cup of vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of dry active yeast
  • 2 cups of molasses
  • 2 ¾ cups of hot water
  • 4 teaspoons of lemon juice
  • 7 cups of whole grain flour

Get the Tools

  • A mixing bowl
  • A wooden spoon
  • Bread pans
  • A rack
  • A beater

  1. Preheat the oven at 350°F to start this process.
  2. Mix the following ingredients in a bowl: water, molasses, honey, vegetable oil, lemon juice, and the salt.
  3. Incorporate 2 cups of whole grain flour into the mixture above and mix it well.
  4. Add the dry active yeast in and mix once again.
  5. When everything is warm, include 4 more cups of the whole grain flour. Continue mixing until the batter is homogeneous.
  6. Add the final cup of the flour in with the rest. Keep on stirring until the dough stops sticking to the bowl.
  7. When the dough is done, cover the bowl it's in and allow it to rest for half an hour.
  8. After the time has passed, you'll notice the dough has risen. This means, you should mix the dough once more.
  9. Sprinkle flour on the surface you'll be working on to keep the dough from sticking to it.
  10. Massage the dough on said surface to give it form. You can cut it in half and create an oblong shape with each half.
  11. Put each of the halves on an oiled pan. Let them breathe until they rise and double its size.
  12. Now, it's time to stick the pans in the oven for the breads to bake for about 30 minutes.
  13. After that, remove the loaves from the oven, place them on the rack, and give them time to cool before enjoying them!
