In Memory of Paul William Oxley - Chief Baker & Foodie Extraordinaire
It is with sober hearts and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of our head baker
and dear friend Paul Oxley, who passed away on February 23, 2017 after losing a contracted
battle with cancer.
Paul joined the Great Harvest crew in October, 2006 and in over a decade of maintaining a work
schedule, which began each morning at 4:00 A.M., Paul has been an exemplary employee in
every way. Paul was always dependable, always professional and always dedicated to
mastering the art of bread-craft, bringing excellence in product quality to all of the customers
that he loved baking for.
Born out of a quest for knowledge and excellence, Paul attended and graduated from Culinary
School, mid-career. The technical skills that he mastered brought innovation, which Paul
balanced nicely with the Great Harvest brand, systems and controls. His schooling and his job
experience aided Paul in becoming a master teacher as he trained many Associate Bakers over
Even through the ravaging cancer treatments, Paul continued to work and never complained,
except to say, when asked, that he got tired a little more quickly than he used to.
Over the years, Paul’s contributions to his craft at the Great Harvest Bread Company in Austin,
Texas have been innumerable.
We miss you buddy…
